Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the A Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition presents the chord tones G4, A4, Db5, A5, and Db6 as corresponding color relationships, creating a visual harmony that mirrors musical structure. The piece investigates how spread voicing in piano technique can inform spatial color organization.

Yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing across multiple registers to represent the A notes in different octaves. Blue-green accents provide the chromesthetic equivalent of Db5, while warm orange and red-orange touches correspond to the lower register voices. The watercolor technique allows colors to blend at their boundaries, creating the visual equivalent of harmonic resonance between chord tones.

The work measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, signed bottom right with certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0003. As part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, it demonstrates the systematic approach to translating specific musical structures into visual form. The compact format supports the intimate scale of a piano étude, maintaining the direct relationship between musical gesture and visual expression.
