Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the D minor triad into its chromesthetic equivalent, exploring how musical harmony manifests through color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece examines the visual properties of a fundamental musical chord through direct color mapping.

Orange tones dominate the composition, appearing as chocolate and salmon hues that occupy substantial areas of the surface. Red-orange sections in russet and burnt sienna create contrasting zones, while a single red accent in indianred provides a sharp focal point. Gray areas anchor the lower register, establishing tonal depth across the vertical format.

The work measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs under 100 grams on wood panel support. Created in 2024 as the fourth variation in this harmonic research series, it carries certificate number 20241201-0278 with signature located bottom right. The piece sold to a private collector in Paris, France in January 2025.
