Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the D Major9 chord through chromesthetic mapping, translating harmonic relationships into visual color arrangements. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece demonstrates how musical intervals correspond to specific color families, creating a bridge between auditory and visual perception.

Yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, with dimgray and goldenrod creating substantial presence throughout the surface. Ochre and peru provide additional warmth in the middle register, while very dark gray anchors the lower frequencies. Orange darkgoldenrod appears as accent notes, complemented by small areas of wheat and tan. Two precise accent colors punctuate the arrangement: a deep red-orange mark and a pale blue-green silver note.

The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm in acrylic on paper, weighing minimal for easy handling. Certificate of authenticity number 20240220-0021 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The chromesthetic system maps the seven-note voicing D1-D2-A3-D4-E4-A4-Db5 to corresponding color families, achieving complete harmonic resolution through the systematic color-to-pitch relationships.
