Ab minor

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the Ab minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical harmony becomes color relationship. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece converts the fundamental chord tones Ab, B, and Eb into their corresponding visual equivalents, creating a direct bridge between auditory and visual perception.

Bright yellow-green dominates the composition, occupying the central areas and representing the third of the chord. Blue-violet tones appear throughout in multiple shades, from deep grayish purple to lighter variants, translating the root and fifth relationships. Black and very dark gray anchor the lower register, while cream and light tones provide subtle contrast. The geometric forms arrange themselves in overlapping planes, with circular elements and angular shapes creating spatial depth across the vertical format.

The acrylic on paper measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm, making it a compact study in harmonic visualization. Certificate of authenticity number 20240615-0142 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right. Created in 2024 as part of Quercy's systematic investigation into sound-color correspondences, the piece demonstrates how traditional Western harmony can be translated into visual form through consistent chromesthetic principles.
