Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting explores the visual translation of Jerome Kern's "All the Things You Are" through the specific harmonic structure of the A-flat Major chord. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work maps musical harmony onto visual color relationships, with A-flat rendered as blue and C as red according to the artist's chromesthetic perception. The piece investigates how jazz standards can generate new visual compositions through systematic color-sound correspondence.

Violet tones dominate the composition, appearing across more than a third of the surface through dusty mauve and grayish purple areas. Red-orange elements create substantial presence, while warm orange accents provide counterpoint through darksalmon and burnt sienna passages. Deep gray and very dark violet sections anchor the composition, with small blue areas and wheat-colored highlights adding luminous contrast. The acrylic medium on linen canvas creates smooth color transitions and maintains consistent texture throughout.

The work measures one hundred fourteen by one hundred forty-six centimeters, executed on linen canvas support. Created in France during January 2024, it bears certificate of authenticity number 20240705-0157 and carries the artist's signature in the bottom right corner. The piece represents Variation 6 within the broader harmonic research series, catalogued as AQC0661 in the artist's systematic documentation of synesthetic color-music translations.
