Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the Ab Major triad into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, where musical tones correspond to specific colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece explores how harmonic relationships in music can be expressed through color relationships on a painted surface.

Violet tones dominate the composition, appearing in deep purples and lighter lavender areas that correspond to the fundamental bass notes. Blue-violet sections create substantial presence through royal blue passages, while yellow-gray areas provide contrast. Small accent notes appear as red and orange touches, with pale thistle tones marking the highest registers. The acrylic paint creates smooth color transitions across the wood panel surface.

The work measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal amounts, making it a compact study in the series. Created in 2024, it carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0286. The piece was completed in France as part of ongoing research into synesthetic perception, where the artist maps musical intervals to color relationships through systematic chromesthetic translation.
