Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the visual representation of a B minor chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The work translates musical harmony into color relationships, showing how the minor triad B-D-F# appears as specific color combinations when experienced through synesthetic perception.

Orange tones dominate the composition, appearing in multiple variations from light burlywood to deeper burnt sienna. These warm colors represent the D notes across different octaves, creating a visual chord structure that spans from deep russet shadows to luminous highlights. Yellow-orange areas provide substantial presence, while small accent notes of violet, red-orange, and blue-green create harmonic tension points throughout the surface.

The watercolor measures 19 × 27 cm and weighs minimal on paper support. This work holds position as the sixth piece in the Reflexions series, exploring piano études through visual translation. Certificate of authenticity number 20231231-0027 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The piece demonstrates how musical intervals translate into spatial color relationships through the artist's chromesthetic experience.
