Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
Wander down rue de Passy at twenty to four, where Paris keeps the feel of a village high street. Shops line the old lane in a grey disc and lavender, red-orange and blue, a single purple upright standing watch. The afternoon softens, and there is an easy, lived-in warmth to this corner of the 16th.
This is one of the 72 Facets of Paris, each born of a single measure of a piano waltz. From the chords F−7 and B♭7 the artist drew this hour's spirit, then painted it through his ideamorphic method as the dance turns on, full and warm through the waning afternoon.
Acrylic on paper, 18 × 13 cm, signed on the reverse. An intimate, collectible fragment of a painted Paris — bring home the gentle bustle of an old Passy afternoon.
