Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
Twenty past ten on the Place de la Sorbonne, the chapel rising above its cafés. Navy and gold give the square its dignity; blue and orange dance across the terraces, lavender softens the air and an ochre disc hangs like a low sun. Students drift between classes, terraces fill, the heart of the university quarter humming with conversation and coffee.
This is one of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name. Each measure became a Parisian place at an hour, painted into colour through the artist's ideamorphic method. From the chords A−7♭5 and D7 this facet draws the lively poise of the Sorbonne at twenty past ten — the waltz gathering pace through the morning.
Acrylic on paper, 18 × 13 cm, signed on the reverse. The intellectual warmth of the Sorbonne in colour and form — a cultivated, life-filled piece to keep.
