Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Step close to this small painting and you are inside the royal parish church of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois at twenty past midnight. A deep blue field holds the dark nave; a red-orange shaft cuts through it like a remembered prayer, a glint of teal catching the edge of the silence. The city is asleep, and a single votive light keeps watch.

This is one of the 72 Facets of Paris, each measure of a piano waltz painted into colour and form. Still within the prelude — played ad lib, free of the bar, soft and mysterious — it is born of the chord C−7♭5, that hushed half-diminished tension that lets a single warm note glow against the night.

Acrylic on paper, 18 × 13 cm, signed on the reverse. To live with it is to keep a candle burning in your own room — a small, intimate Paris that never goes fully dark.
