Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a specific piano chord through synesthetic color mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, it transforms the Eb major 7 chord into a structured color composition based on piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping. The piece examines how harmonic relationships can be expressed through chromatic equivalents.

Gray tones dominate the composition, with silver and black creating the foundation. Red-orange areas provide substantial presence alongside blue-violet regions that establish the middle range. Orange tones appear in multiple variations, from warm earth colors to pale cream tones. Small accent colors include violet, yellow-orange, and light pink details that complete the harmonic spectrum. The colors organize into distinct zones while maintaining smooth transitions between adjacent areas.

The painting measures 21.0 × 21.0 cm on paper and weighs 0.1 kg. Created in France in 2026, it carries certificate of authenticity number 20260305-0019. The artist's signature appears at bottom right. This work represents the Eb major 7 major seventh chord through its resolved voicing of Eb1, Bb2, Eb3, D4, Eb4, D5, Eb5, G5, G6, G7, with each note assigned specific color families according to the artist's chromesthetic system.
