Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of an Ab Major piano étude through chromesthetic mapping, where musical tones become colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece investigates how harmonic relationships can exist in visual form, creating a direct correspondence between sound and color perception.
Orange tones dominate the composition, ranging from light salmon hues to deeper burnt sienna and russet shades. These warm colors spread across the surface in organic forms, punctuated by geometric elements including small rectangles and circular shapes. A single blue-violet accent appears as a small square, providing contrast against the predominantly orange palette. The watercolor medium allows colors to flow and blend naturally, creating soft transitions between tones while maintaining distinct areas of color concentration.
The work measures 30 × 42 cm on paper, executed in watercolor during 2023. This piece represents the third exploration in the artist's investigation of synesthetic translation, where the Ab Major triad manifests through specific color relationships. The composition includes certificate of authenticity number 20231231-0023, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The work was acquired by Koblenzer Kunstverein in Koblenz, Germany, in November 2023.
