Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
Twenty past nine at the top of rue Mouffetard, and the cobbled street is stirring beneath you. Black and blue ground the scene; olive-green and a purple block lean into one another, a white square opens like a shutter and orange flickers at the edge. The slope falls away toward the market below, shopkeepers raising blinds, the day finding its rhythm on ancient stones.
This is one of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name. Each measure became a Parisian place at an hour, painted into colour through the artist's ideamorphic method. From the chord E♭−7 this facet draws the waking street at twenty past nine — the waltz gathering pace through the morning.
Acrylic on paper, 18 × 13 cm, signed on the reverse. The most storied street in Paris, caught at its first stir — a piece full of quiet anticipation.
