Paris rooftops, Norman cliffs, Luxembourg chairs. Interior architect by training, Caroline Lopez draws what others walk past — the layered geometry of a quartier, the weight of a wave against chalk, an empty seat holding the shape of absence. She has exhibited across Paris salons and galleries since 2014.
Her work is currently exhibited at Art Quam Anima, 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
"Le clocher de st louis" takes a steep upward view of a Paris street corner — a vantage point that displaces the familiar cityscape into something closer to direct experience than scenic record. Caroline Lopez works from personal expression, and this choice of angle anchors the work in a specific moment of looking rather than in architectural documentation. The piece belongs to the Paris collection.
The ink linework is precise and self-assured across the architectural forms. A classical street lamp fills the lower foreground, its ornamental curves and dark mass rendered in dense black. Behind and above it, Haussmann facades rise in layers — mansard rooftops, chimney stacks, dormer windows, and coursed stone surfaces built up through open contour lines and selective hatching. The handling becomes lighter toward the upper portions of the composition, where walls and roof edges are suggested rather than fully stated. In the upper left, loose yellow-green ink areas introduce foliage — treated in a freer, more open manner than the structural lines below. A single window carries a warm amber accent, the only concentrated warmth in an otherwise cool, near-monochrome field.
The work measures thirty by thirty centimeters on paper and weighs approximately one hundred grams. It is executed in ink and belongs to the Paris collection.
