The Solitary Cyclop explores the intersection of abstract form and narrative suggestion through oil on paper. Part of the Mediterranean Echoes collection, the work presents a central cyclopean figure that emerges from layered geometric and organic shapes, questioning the boundaries between representation and abstraction.
White and light gray tones dominate the composition, creating a luminous foundation across which darker elements move. Orange and red-orange forms appear throughout substantial areas, providing warmth and visual weight. Very dark gray and burnt sienna create strong contrasts, while small blue accents add coolness to the predominantly warm palette. The oil medium allows for rich layering and blending, creating varied textures from smooth washes to more defined edges.
