About This Artwork

This 3D printed wood PLA sculpture presents Shakespeare's enigmatic air spirit from The Tempest through simplified geometric forms. The piece shows a face with two eyes and suggestions of nose and mouth carved into an elongated, angular structure that stands fifteen centimeters tall on a six by five centimeter base.

The sculpture uses Wood PLA filament printed with diagonal layer orientation across curved surfaces, creating organic grain patterns that reference natural wood without imitating it. This technical choice—plastic simulating wood—parallels Ariel's nature as ethereal essence forced into material form. The vertical format and compact dimensions require close viewing to perceive how the abstracted features balance between recognition and mystery.

As part of the Spells and Magic collection, the work explores themes from mythology and literature through contemporary fabrication methods. The sculpture bears certificate of authenticity 20221231-0002 and the artist's signature.
